One thing you can’t get enough of is education. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and believe that this mindset opens so many more opportunities. Investing in yourself is a concept that is becoming a foreign idea. Putting you first can increase your income, build your confidence, which can help you pursue dreams you didn’t know you had and opens doors you never knew existed. Investing in myself over the last few years has deeply enriched my life by introducing me to folks, methods, ideals, and experiences that I might have never encountered otherwise. I have created a life that’s more satisfying and balanced since becoming a birth worker and owner of my own doula and lactation practice.
I realized something, you must invest in yourself, because guess what?--most times, no one else will.
Here’s a few ideas on how to invest in yourself:
Strengthen Your Current Skills
Are you considered an “expert” in the skills or areas you rely on most?
Truth be told, probably no.
Learn a New Skill
Continue learning throughout your life, don’t stop at that degree, credential or certification. Learning a new skill keeps your mind sharp and your information bank up to date.
Attend courses and classes
Seminars, conferences, courses and workshops are awesome ways to investing in yourself quickly, efficiently and sometimes affordably, especially with online! Advancing your knowledge can help you become an expert in your field.
Network
Meeting and chatting with other professionals in your industry is a great way to make connections and meet other like-minded people. Want to know how? See above, classes and courses, seminars and conferences I was talking about.
Investing in yourself, sends a powerful message to yourself and the world.
“The value and potential that I possess, is important enough to me that I'm going to give it the energy, space and time to grow and create results.”
--Megan Tull, The Passion Belief Method
