If your baby starts to nod off while feeding at chest/breast, this simple trick of breast/chest compressions may help baby feed more actively and increase their milk intake.
Support your breast/chest with one hand—thumb on one side and fingers on the other.
Wait while your baby breastfeeds actively, jaw moving all the way to ear. When you notice swallowing stops, compress your breast with a gentle firm squeeze then release, until they start nursing actively, then release your hand.
Rotate around your breast/chest and repeat as needed.
When the compressions seem to no longer work, try putting baby on the other side and starting the process again.
